Barlidge Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 I'm have an issue with my climate panel, basically most of the buttons have stopped working and its stuck in auto mode and has the following symptoms. 1. If I press the Econ button the unit of measure changes from Celsius to Farenheit.2. If I hold down the auto button it will let me change the cabin temperature.3. If I hold down the recirc button I can manually change the fan speed but it returns to auto as soon as recirc is released.4. The heater still functions correctly, the fans speed up and slow down as the engine temp and cabin temperatures change. Given the 1st symptom I initially though it was gunged up buttons so I've removed and stripped the unit, cleaned all the plastic parts thoroughly and cleaned the boards with switch cleaner, the boards show no sign of visual damage or dry joints etc. This had no effect. Has anyone had similar problems? I'm trying to work out if its a problem with the panel or something else in the system. Nothing else in the car seems to be affected. Galaxy 1.9 tdi 2003 single climate. Quote
Barlidge Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 Bump again, just wondering it anyone has any thoughts? Quote
Barlidge Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 As an update to this I replaced the climate panel which cured that fault but since then the radio display disappears, the radio still works and by changing station/volume the display comes back for a bit. Quote
seatkid Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Bump again, just wondering it anyone has any thoughts? I know its too late now, but it sounds as if the small recessed button that sits between two of the main buttons (cant remember which) was jammed in - this is the button that allows temperature indication change from C <-> F. Barlidge Posted June 25, 2013 Author Report Posted June 25, 2013 Small recessed button? Don't think I have one of them, my unit changes from °C to °F by pressing the large Auto and Econ buttons. Also I stripped the unit and cleaned all the boards, fan and plastic buttons thoroughly as my first thought was a gunged up button. The symptoms did suggest that though so maybe a faulty switch on the front board. Quote
seatkid Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Small recessed button? Don't think I have one of them, my unit changes from °C to °F by pressing the large Auto and Econ buttons. Its the small round button sandwiched between left temp control set and the right fan speed set. You need a pen or small screwdriver to operate it. The F<->C should only be enabled when this small button is depressed. Quote
